Our OSHA Forklift Training Programs are comprised of exercises and must-know safety information to help operators first time through OSHA forklift training requirements.

OSHA requires that all workers operating forklifts attend a workplace safety training program.

Trainees may only operate the forklifts while directly supervising employees who received the training.
A direct supervisor or a co-worker who has received prior forklift safety training should supervise a trainee while they use a forklift.

A live-tester should conduct the training personally, and should observe an employee operating the forklift until training requirements are completed.

After you have completed the hands-on training and passed the performance evaluation, you will officially become certified to operate a forklift.

After successfully passing a comprehensive final examination, OSHA requires that you undergo hands-on training with an employer and pass a performance evaluation on an in-workplace operator before earning an official forklift permit. Once you have passed your written examination, you will have to prove your forklift skills with training and practice using the forklift device.

This certificate program provides you with career-relevant training in the use of forklifts, and is awarded with an OSHA-approved certificate of completion, a requirement at many companies and workplaces.

If you are currently employed and you need to be certified on Forklifts, your employer is responsible for providing you with appropriate training.

Forklift instructors are not required to have a certification; the employers responsibility is to determine whether an instructor is qualified to teach operators.
OSHAs Forklift Certification indicates the worker has been trained and evaluated by an employer in safe operation of a truck.

OSHA forklift certification includes the name of the forklift operator, date of training and evaluation, and identity of the individual who performed the training and forklift evaluation. After completing the training program successfully, a forklift operator must be given certification evidence including his/her name, the date training took place, the date of the evaluation, and the identity of the operator who performed the training or evaluation.

Workers should have been trained according to CSA standard B335-15, Training of Industrial Forklift Operators, and passed the testing before being allowed to operate an industrial lift (forklift).

Lift truck operators are required to go through a training program specific to the type of lift trucks they will operate, and the types of working conditions they will face.

Because there is no formal forklift operator training course, nor is there an OSHA Certification, lift truck operators are not required to carry any kind of formal certification or identification document that would verify their certification.
Under OSHA Standard 1978, employers are required to make sure all forklift operators are adequately trained and certified.

OSHA requires that everyone who works is trained and certified prior to operating a forklift, even if driving forklifts is only a very small part of his or her job.

If you are already employed by a business that uses forklifts, this training may take place in your place of employment, and your employer may be the one who assesses your competency. You should get your employers training related to the trucks you will operate.
